⭐️NATIONAL OT MONTH⭐️
Meet Rachel, a pediatric OT at our Rudolphtown clinic.
What inspired you to become an occupational therapist?
- I have an uncle with Down Syndrome who has always been very close to me and is still one of my favorite people. Growing up, my family made a strong effort to include him in everything and support his independence in meaningful ways. Seeing the impact of that support firsthand inspired me to pursue a career where I can help others achieve greater independence and quality of life.
What’s the most rewarding part of being an OT?
- One of the most rewarding aspects of being an occupational therapist is witnessing a patient’s progress from struggling with everyday tasks to gaining independence. It is especially meaningful to see patients recognize their own growth, take pride in their accomplishments, and share those successes with their loved ones.
What populations do you work with, and what do you love most about it?
- I primarily work with pediatric populations. I value the opportunity to support not only the child but also their families and caregivers. Working with children allows for creativity and play-based approaches, which makes therapy both effective and engaging while helping improve overall quality of life.
