⭐️OT SPOTLIGHT - MS. RACHEL⭐️

When asked why she became an OT, what she loves about being an OT, why she chose High Pointe, and how she keeps up with the latest developments in the OT world, Ms. Rachel said…

“I have a 50 year old uncle with Down Syndrome whom I call “Uncle Neil” who has always been one of my favorite people and best friends in the world. It was because of him that I knew I wanted to work to help others who face daily challenges with everyday activities in a fun and creative way!

My favorite part of working with kiddos in therapy, is getting to play everyday! Incorporating play-based activities into treatment is not only super fun, but it gives me great joy to know that the kids (and I) get to have fun while working to reach their goals. I also enjoy that the kids keep me on my toes and keep my brain active, with adaptability being one of the most important characteristics of being a peds OT.

The high quality toys and equipment, cleanliness, the overall “team vibe” from watching the team collaborate in the interview process, and the happy faces I saw leaving the clinic on interview day let me know that I would be a good fit for HPT!

HPT allowed me to go to the annual AOTA conference which highlighted several practice areas for pediatrics which I am excited to incorporate into my practice.”

I love seeing her beautiful face pop up 🤩 she’s so wonderful. Always offering new ideas, always supportive, and just so much fun. She’s the best!

High Pointe Therapy

⭐️OT SPOTLIGHT - MRS. ALLISON⭐️

Mrs. Allison said, “The best part of being a pediatric occupational therapist is that I get to use play as a therapy tool to help kids develop their daily living skills. I enjoy building a connection with my families and providing ongoing education and resources to ensure success at home and in school.

What drew me- my son is a patient at High Pointe. He was referred before I became an employee. Everyone was wonderful and seemed to love their job, from the front desk staff to all of his therapists. High Pointe is a facility that everyone knows your name. Even when a therapist isn’t directly involved in a child’s plan of care, they are cheering your child on from the sidelines. I knew then that High Pointe was somewhere I would love to work.

High Pointe has such a great group of therapists that I get to collaborate with. This has allowed me to grow as a therapist. Having others to learn from, problem solve with, and co-treat with allows me to ensure all of my clients needs are being met.

The trickiest part of being a pediatric therapist is that you often have to think quick on your feet and adjust your treatment plan last minute. If my little friends have no interest in the activities I present, I try to alter plans to ensure my friends stay engaged while still addressing their goals.”

Ms. Allison does such a great job, not only with her patients - but all that she teaches their parents, too!
